Shades@Mary-Jean welcome children of all ages.
The house has stairs. You are responsible for the safety of your child.
Shades@Mary-Jean will not be held liable should any injuries occur on our property. Your child remains your responsibility.
We do offer a safety gate to use at one end of the stairs. If you prefer to have a gate at both ends, then you are welcome to bring another safety gate with you.

We recommend that parents with small children occupy the bottom bedroom to ensure the safety of their children.

Accommodation

  • Max 7 Guests
  • Minimum of 2 nights stay low season, High Season minimum of 5 nights
  • 1 x Room Upstairs with a Queen bed, en-suite full bathroom & sliding doors onto the balcony.
  • 1 x Room Upstairs with a Double bed & en-suite bathroom
  • 1 x Room Downstairs with a Double Bed & a separate bathroom (shower, toilet, basin)
  • 1 x Room Downstairs with a 3/4 Bed & en-suite bathroom

Extras

  • R650 cleaning fee payable over and above accommodation rate (does not include cleaning of dishes)
  • R1500 breakage / damage deposit payable over and above accommodation rate (refunded within 5 days after departure)

Payment agreement

  • 50% payment secure booking
  • If occupation is within a short time of booking confirmation, then full payment must reflect on the bank record before keys will be handed over. This is not negotiable.
  • Payment arrangements can be made on request.
  • Payment in full – 14 days prior to booking.

Rates

When you book Shades@Mary-Jean the rates are – R2800 per night
It is for 7 guests in 4 Bedrooms / 4 Bathrooms.

Smaller groups – 4 guests are accommodated @ R500 per person per night.

Provide a copy of your ID at acceptance of the quotation. Your information will be kept private and will not be shared with anybody.

Loadshedding Back up system

Shades@Mary-Jean now has an inverter back up system.
Please read carefully through the below information as Shades@Mary-Jean will not be responsible for any damages or injury that might be caused if the below instructions are not followed correctly.

Refrain from using the tumble dryer, microwave oven, hair dryer or oven during loadshedding.

The system is capable of supplying enough electricity for 4hrs during loadshedding. Should there be power failures over and above loadshedding that lasts for longer periods you will be out of power.. This is purely a back-up system to compensate for 4 hours of loadshedding.

If you experience any problems with the power, please contact us first before attempting to reset the back-up system. You are not permitted to try and fix the problem. The supplier will connect via WIFI to adjust or fix any issues.

It is essential that children are kept away from the back-up system at all times.

Shades@Mary-Jean will not be liable for any injuries or damage caused by the back-up system if there was interference with same.

You will be held liable for damages to the system should the supplier determine your manual involvement in the operation of the system.

What you should know when you arrive Shades@Mary-Jean

  • Gas stove – Open the gas valve outside and open the gas bottle.
  • Kindly close again when you leave.
  • To use the oven, you must set the clock timer as well.
    Solar Geyser – is on a timer. Hot water should be around 55-60 degrees. If you need hot water outside of the times set, just press the red button and the 3 red flames will highlight.
  • There are 3 solar lights for you to use during loadshedding. It is solar, leave in the window to charge during the day.
  • The TV has a TV box, with NETFLIX, Showmax and Prime Video. Please don’t change the profiles.
  • Please close the windows when you leave. The wind brings lots of sand & we do have petty crime.
  • Use the alarm beams in the evening – press . (one dot) – to activate
    Press green button to de-activate.
  • If you do Catch or buy fish, please don’t put it in the Silver Stand alone, freezer. The white deep freeze is for the fish.
  • Please – NO BAIT in the freezer.
  • If you clean fish please throw the guts away and don’t try and flush it down the drain. Let’s keep others in mind here.

House Rules

The premises is for guests only, no visitors permitted.

Maximum persons allowed in the unit not to be exceeded at any time.

Guests use the facility at their own risk, we do not take any responsibility for injury that may occur while staying at Shades@Mary-Jean. There are stairs & a Balcony in the house.

The owners are not responsible for the loss of any personal belongings or valuables of the guests.

No Vaping or Smoking in the house, smoking is allowed on the balcony. Please don’t throw your stumps on the grass.

When smoking outside, do not put out your cigarette stumps out on the grass.

Departure by 10H00 strictly.

By making a booking you accept responsibility for any theft, breakage or damage caused by you, pets or any member of your party and agree to indemnity us in full for any loss that we may incur as a result.

Damages and breakages – please treat the facilities & accommodation with due care so that other guests may continue to enjoy them. If there has been any damage or breakages during your stay, we would be grateful if you could report them promptly, especially before check-out. The accommodation will be inspected at the end of the holiday & you may be charged for any loss or damage.

Malicious or accidental damages and breakages caused by guests, will be the liability and responsibility of the aforesaid guests and costs incurred for repairs will be billed to the aforesaid guest.

An additional charge for cleaning in regards to the damages or breakages caused, may be charged.

Please lock the doors and close the windows when you leave the property unoccupied.

Please don’t take any bath towels with you to the beach. Please bring your own beach towels.

Please respect the community and try to keep noise levels to a minimum, especially between 10 pm and 8 am.

We reserve the right to terminate a holiday without compensation where the unreasonable behaviour of the persons named on the booking (or their guests) may impair the enjoyment, comfort, or health of others.

Pets Policy

House trained pets welcome by prior arrangement. Terms and conditions apply. 

  • Only 2 pets are allowed at on the premises at any given time during your stay
  • You are not allowed to lock your dogs inside the house when you go out for the day. The walls are 1.2meter high, if they will jump over then our house might not be suitable for your holiday.
  • You are responsible to bring pet bedding and bowls.
  • Bring extra blankets to put your own blankets on the beds/couches for your dogs. We are pet friendly, but we also respect other guests.
  • Pet Owners are kindly requested to ensure the property is cleaned of any dog poo before departure.

Child Policy

We accommodate all children, but they remain the full responsibility of their parents or supervising adult.

We do not provide child care.

All damages caused by the children, remains the responsibility of their parents or guardians and the parents or guardians will be charged with the relevant costs of the damages or breakages.

We reiterate that children must not be left on the premises unsupervised.We do not accept any responsibility or liability for injury or damage caused if children are not properly supervised.

Cancellation Policy

If you have a short term booking you will forfeit your payment but we recommend date changes.

  • 7 days before arrival – Forfeit 100% of Payment
  • 14 days before arrival – Forfeit 90% of Payment
  • 21 Days before arrival – Forfeit 50% of Payment

Or alternatively you can request date changes. This option can only be exercised twice from initial booking and only apply based on availability.
If your booking was affected by any Promotion then similar time slots apply.

We at Shades@Mary-Jean take all bookings in good faith and will therefore make no exceptions with regards to applying for a cancellation.
