This working fishing village embodies the essence of an authentic and traditional West Coast lifestyle. Throughout the year, whales and dolphins make their visits, while bird enthusiasts can delight in observing over 250 species of birds. The West Coast is also home to a community of talented local artists, residing and creating in areas such as Darling, Paternoster, and St. Helena Bay. Their artistic endeavors, ranging from paintings and sculptures to pottery and photography, can be admired in numerous local galleries and shops.
With four bedrooms and four bathrooms, Shades@Mary-Jean comfortably sleeps between 4 and 7 guests. The house also boasts a beautiful, roomy open plan kitchen, an indoor braai, WIFI, and an outside braai patio.
For a touch of luxury, there’s a wine barrel splash bath/wood-fired hot tub to enjoy, further enhancing the wonderful West Coast vibe.
To ensure security and provide a safe space for your furry companions to play outside, the house is surrounded by a 1.2-meter perimeter wall. Additionally, secured parking is available.
The kitchen is well-equipped with a standalone fridge and freezer, along with a separate freezer for ice and fish. Other amenities include a microwave, toaster, pots, pans, cutlery, crockery, essential utensils, washing machine, and tumble dryer. Bedlinen and bath towels are provided, but kindly remember to bring your own pool or beach towels.
Shades@Mary-Jean is equipped with an inverter and battery system to provide four hours of backup power during load shedding. For added security, an alarm system is installed.
During your stay, you can spend your days leisurely strolling along the white sandy beach or soaking up the sun. This unique area is renowned for its long stretches of white beaches, delectable seafood, and breathtaking scenery.
Conveniently, Shades@Mary-Jean is only a 90-minute drive from Cape Town, making it easily accessible for a weekend getaway or an annual vacation.
Children of all ages are welcome at Shades@Mary-Jean. We recommend that parents with small children choose the ground floor bedroom for their peace of mind and to ensure the safety of their little ones.

We had the most lovely experience in this cozy home. The fully furnished house provided everything we needed, love and laughter included. Our pets also enjoyed it so much as the house have beach access. We wil definitely book again soon.
